Advertising tenders

Where do I find out about contracts for the Council?

Where we advertise tenders depends on the value of the contract:

  • Contracts valued in excess of £139,000 are advertised in the Official Journal of the European Union, in accordance with EU Procurement Regulations

  • Contracts between £25,000 and £139,000 are subject to a formal tendering procedure

All tenders issued by the Council and by our Corporate Procurement Section will be publicly advertised our Procurement Portal.

Website: Procurement Portal

We have adopted a secure electronic process for transmitting tender documentation. Depending on the size of the contract and the volume of enquiries we receive, it may be necessary to attach a fee of £40 for tender documents.

We enter into several types of contracts, including

  • contracts for specific goods and/or services

  • framework contracts for regular goods and/or services over a given period of time

The contracts that we enter into are governed by the procedures contained in the document 'Standing Orders Relating to Contracts'. This is available to download at the bottom of this page.

Tender evaluation

Tenders are normally evaluated using the following criteria:

  • price and price stability

  • quality

  • delivery and lead time

  • financial stability of the company

  • maintenance contracts (if appropriate)

Use the Contract Evaluation Process link at the left of this page to find out more.
