Clarkston Speakers Club is one of the leading public speaking clubs in the UK.
Our aim is to help every member become a confident, comfortable and cracking good speaker.
Our evenings are varied and fun, and are run in a relaxing and friendly environment.
It's not all about public speaking. Other skills you acquire along the way include how to "speak on your feet" without preparation, how to chair and time a meeting, how to take and refuse questions from the floor, and understanding points of procedure.

Guests are very welcome to pop along  - there will be no pressure to take part!
Visit the Clarkston Speakers Club website for more information.

There are all sorts of reasons for growing your own vegetables, fruit, herbs and flowers. Growing your own, is an inexpensive hobby, which can help reduce your food bills and improve your eating habits, at the same time. Cultivating your crop is also a great way to exercise and socialise at the same time. We are a friendly bunch from various walks of life. Don't worry if you are a novice, there is plenty of experienced plot holders on site to share their knowledge. If you are interested in a plot, or we have raised beds for our older population or with a disability. Please contact the email address above. You have to stay in East Renfrewshire and have your Council Tax Bill as proof.

Giffnock & Clarkston is one of Glasgow's and Scotland's Premier Chess Clubs and, with a history stretching back over 60 years, caters for both the expert and novice alike.

Last season we competed in all 4 of the Glasgow League divisions, finishing well in all, and in the top division of the National League.
We have the biggest junior section in Glasgow and are current holders of the Glasgow Junior League Trophy and the national Bankton Chess Trophy.

On Tuesday evenings, there are either competitive matches against other clubs, or you can play friendly games against other members.
As well as a very healthy contested club championship, we also have other internal club competitions that are open to those not in the championship itself.

Of course not everyone wants to play in a competitive environment, and our club is for you too. Many members just in on a Tuesday evening for a casual game and as long as you enjoy chess in some form, come along and have some fun, relax, and enjoy a friendly game or two.

We aim to develop confidence, self-esteem and verbal communication skills in children from 5 to 16 through classes that have been running internationally for 30 years.

Every week, over 12,000 children attend our fun classes held throughout the UK. Students take part in creative improvised drama, speech work, creative movement activities as well as plays and script work.

lasses are designed to be good fun and are high energy, motivating even the quietest children to join in while the more confident ones learn how to develop characters and portray them to an audience.

We meet for an hour every week and in the summer we will perform a short, scripted production on stage for family and friends.

Anyone with an interest in Model Boats would be welcome to join, We are an environmentally friendly club, and unfortunately cannot cater for fast electric and Internal Combustion Engine (I.C.E) boats. We now also have a following of sailing boats and warships.
