Our Customer Service opening hours are 8.45am - 4.45pm, Monday to Friday. The Payment Centre hours are 9am - 4.15pm, with only credit/debit card payments (not cash) between 1pm and 2pm.

How much does it cost

The warrant fee is proportional to the value of the work taking place with larger building projects requiring a larger fee. A full breakdown of our fees is available:

How long does it take

We will endeavour to assess your application as quickly as possible. Our target time for responding to your submission is 20 working days from the validation of your application and fee.

The length of time it takes for checking will vary depending on the size and complexity of the proposals, the quality of the plans and information submitted, and any adjustments required to the plans. Building warrant submissions are checked against the Building Standards Technical Handbooks, published by The Scottish Government.
