Right to Repair

The Right to Repair scheme entitles Scottish Secure Tenants to have small urgent repairs carried out and paid for by East Renfrewshire Council, within a given timescale.

For a blocked flue, problems with gas supply or gas heating tenants should contact City Technical Services directly on 0800 046 1972.

If the repair is a 'qualifying repair' it will be the council's responsibility to fix this. The council will advise tenants of the maximum timescale for the repair to be completed, explain your rights under this scheme, provide you with the names and addresses and phone numbers of our contractors and make suitable arrangements with you to allow the council to carry out the repair. If repairs are not completed within the  timescale then tenants are entitled to compensation.
