Neilston Cattle Show
Neilston Cattle Show day falls annually on the first Saturday in May, one of the earliest shows in the farming calendar. In recent years, the show has been held at Holehouse and is a fun day out for all the family. Visit the website below to find out more.
The Neilston Cattle Show began in the early 19th century, because of a dispute between two local farmers over their respective prized bulls. In a bid to settle the argument, the farmers arranged a contest to be judged by other farmers in the area. Nobody remembers who won, but the contest grew into an annual event that has continued for nearly 200 years.
The Cattle Show has always been well supported by the local people and schools of Neilston, Uplawmoor and Barrhead. This community support has been vital to its continued success.
