Internet and computers

Public Access PCs are available in all of our libraries and their usage is free of charge. You don't have to be a member of the library to use the computers but we do encourage you to join to get the full benefit of using the service. Your library barcode number is what allows you to log onto the computers.

Children & Internet Safety

Children are reminded they should be alert at all times while using the internet. Children who are not yet in Primary Five must be accompanied by an adult when using a PC.

Remember, to be sure of a fun and above all safe online experience DO NOT do any of the following:

  • Give out your real name

  • Give out your telephone number or email address

  • Give out details of where you live or what school you go to

  • If you are unsure or suspect anything, please either tell a member of the library staff or if using the computer at home, tell your parents.

Library PCs are filtered and we try to offer as safe as environment as possible by blocking sites of a pornographic nature. We do not monitor what websites you visit although we do log any instances of sites being blocked in case it is a site that we should be granting access to.
