Lifelong learning

Are you over 16 years of age and interested in learning a new skill or brushing up on your existing knowledge? Want to get to grips with a new computer? We can help you learn how to:
search and shop on the Internet
use email to keep in touch
Practice for your driving theory test
Practice for the UK Citizenship test
improve your typing
master a new language
improve your everyday skills for business or personal use.
Lots of courses are available in your local library, from our popular Basics computing classes for the complete beginner, to recognised qualifications.
Learning can take place at a time and a place to suit you. We offer small classes or one-to-one tuition (depending on the course) at various times, in a relaxed and welcoming environment. You can also use our computers free of charge for self-study throughout library opening hours.
There are Learndirect centres at Barrhead, Busby, Clarkston, Giffnock, Mearns and Neilston libraries. These are also approved by ILA Scotland, which means that individual learning accounts (ILAs) can be used to fund some courses.
Many of our courses are eligible for ILA funding or are completely free.
April 2010: The Basics and Beyond the Basics classes are now eligible for ILA funding.
