Looking for something to do? At your local library, you'll find events and activities for all interests taking place throughout the year, from our Storytelling Festival, author visits and children's Summer Reading Challenge, to our regular programme of learning, health and heritage classes and events.

  • Mearns Community Week
    East Renfrewshire Libraries are delighted to be supporting Mearns Community Week.  4th – 12th September 2010.

  • Exposure Art Festival
    Following huge success in 2009 Exposure Art Festival makes a welcome return to East Renfrewshire from September 20th – October 10th.

Children and young people

  • Sweet Stories, Sweet Surprise
    Meet Anne and Helen, cooking professionals from Two Peas Catering Company, who will tell you some yummy stories and teach you how to decorate your very own sweet surprise to take home.

  • Bookbug Sessions
    These activities introduce music to the very young using simple rhymes, songs and games.  Come along and join in the fun at these interactive sessions for children aged 0-3 years and their carers.

  • Storytimes
    Storytelling sessions for pre-school children are held regularly during term time.

  • Health and Wellbeing Day
    FREE event to help you to take more control of your health & wellbeing

  • Older People's Health Group (Neilston Library)
    The aim of the Older Peoples Health Group is to increase awareness of health and wellbeing. This includes healthy eating, physical activities e.g. seated music and movement, gentle exercise, relaxation, walking exercises, breathing exercises and arts and crafts. There are also discussions on health topics e.g. diabetes, arthritis, health issues in the community.

  • Relaxation Room
    Feeling stressed? Struggling with stress? Find it hard to relax? Then come to our relaxation room.

  • Therapy Room
    Do you suffer from stress, anxiety, depression or feel unwell? Then come to our therapy room. Our professional and experienced therapist will help you to improve your physical and emotional well-being, by giving you a therapeutic massage in an aromatic and relaxing atmosphere.

Lifelong learning

  • Computer courses leading to qualifications
    Studying for a recognised qualification can be a fun challenge, and can improve your CV if you're a jobseeker. We currently offer three courses which lead to a formal certificate from the British Computer Society (BCS) - European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL), e-Citizen and e-Type.

  • Courses on other subjects
    In addition to our courses in computer skills, a number of courses in other subjects are available to you, such as Digital video editing, Driving theory test and more.

  • Informal computer courses
    There are plenty of courses available for all levels of computer experience, from the complete beginner to more advanced options. If you've never used a computer before, here's where to start!
