Youn Persons Discount Travel Card Young Persons National Entitlement Card

The card has been created by the Scottish Government, Young Scot, your local Council and lots of other organisations working together so that it’s easier for you to use their services across Scotland.

The card will enable young people to get cheaper transport on buses, trains and ferries.

  • One third off adult single fares on buses all over Scotland.

  • A free Young Person’s Railcard, cutting up to one third off train fares.

  • Two free return ferry journeys to the mainland if you live on an island.

  • Answer: The Young Persons National Entitlement Card is a voluntary scheme that allows access to different services using one card.
  • Question: What type of services can I access?
  • Answer: Services include Transport, Leisure, Library and Cashless Catering in schools. In the future additional services will be added and other age groups included.
  • Question: Who is the card for?
  • Answer: The Young Persons National Entitlement Card is for young people aged 11 –25 (inclusive).
  • Question: What do I get if I am Age 19- 25 (inclusive) Non-Volunteer?
  • Answer: A Young Person’s National Entitlement Card. When you reach your 19th birthday your entitlement to the concessions will stop. You can still use your card for services other than Transport Concession. The card will still be useful as your Young Scot card.
  • Question: What do I get if I am Age 19- 25 (inclusive) Volunteers?
  • Answer: 19 – 25 (inclusive) Volunteers will receive a Young Persons National Entitlement Card, a bus pass, a rail voucher and if applicable ferry vouchers.
