Pay for Council Services

Important information when you pay by phone or online

We have improved the way we take online and telephone payments in the council.

We have upgraded online and phone payments software as well as how payments are taken direct by our Customer First service and in our cash halls at our offices in Eastwood Park, Giffnock and Main Street, Barrhead.

You can pay any time day or night

You can now pay your council tax, rent and a host of other council services online or by phone.

You can pay for any council service where you have received an invoice e.g. home care, housing support, music tuition, wraparound nursery care, school bus passes, trade waste, commercial rents, housing repairs, hall and school lets, football pitch bookings and lots more.

You can call our automated telephone line 0141 577 3030* to pay. All you need is your debit/credit card and account reference number. Please note that if you pay by credit card you must pay a 2% administration charge.

*The automated and internet service will be offline for 15 minutes each day between 11.10 and 11.25pm.

On-line

If you are experiencing problems saying “System Unavailable” you are probably accessing our site from a favourite or bookmark. As the service delivery method has changed you need to update your favourite link/bookmark to use the new service. Please go to the Customer Connect page and follow the link to Pay housing rent and council tax online.

A common issue arising from on-line customers is having to select what type of account to pay. The new on-line screen defaults to Council Tax. Please remember to select the account type from the left hand side if you want to pay to a different account type.

We have upgraded the e-payments system and you will see changes to the payments page. We have introduced '3-D Secure' which offers greater protection for you online. 3D-Secure is a security mechanism introduced by the card issuing companies. You can obtain more information regarding this from your card issuer.

If you have a problem making an on-line payment, please tell us what account type you are trying to pay and what error or difficulty you are experiencing. Please do not send us any card details by email.

You can make payments using a debit or credit card by either using our new Automated Telephone Payment System (ATP) on 0141 577 3030- lines are available 24 hours, 7 days a week or by phoning 0141 577 3002 from 8am to 6pm- who deal with your payment personally.

In person

You can pay by cash, postal order or cheque in person at these offices:
