Arrow Database Records

The Heritage Database contains details of many of the resources we have in East Renfrewshire, these include photographs, documents and museum items. New records are being added all the time, so keep checking to see how the database grows. As well as browsing all the records (View Records) you can also search in several ways: Quick Search, Advanced Search and Tree View Search. A brief description of each search type is given below, for more help choose the Help Guide from the menu on the left.  

View Records
Allows you to browse brief entries of all the records in the database. To browse the records click View Records or choose View Records from the menu on the left.

Quick Search
Users can search the database for a particular word or phrase in their selected category (e.g. title, collection, keyword, etc.). It provides a quick and easy way for you to get access to the information that interests you. To search the records this way click on Quick Search or choose Quick Search from the menu on the left.

Advanced Search
For more complex queries users can take advantage of our Advanced Search in which you can combine searches. Here are just a few examples:

  1. Keyword searches using several criteria, e.g. subject, name and collection.
  2. Date searches (for a specific period, e.g. Medieval Period, Victorian era, 1930s)
  3. Search by type, e.g. for images only on a subject of your choice.

For these type of queries click on Advanced Search or choose Advanced Search from the menu on the left.

Tree View Search
Every record has its own list of Related Names and Related Subjects. You can view the complete hierarchy of subjects and names in a convenient way. Simply browse the tree structure, tick the subjects you are interested in and hit the search button.

To carry out a subjects tree search click on Subjects Tree or choose Subjects Tree from the menu on the left.

To carry out a names tree search click on  Names Tree from the menu on the left.
