1686  A Parliamentary Act of James VII passed for buying in Scot’s linen to "encourage linen manufacturers in the kingdom"  

1715  Jacobite Rising. Renfrewshire Militia hunts Rob Roy.   
1745  Jacobite Rebellion. Renfrewshire Militia present at Falkirk. Robert Maxwell of Dubbs present at this battle
