Council hosts Scottish National Holocaust Memorial event
A
panel of leading Scots politicians will field questions on the lessons of the Holocaust to mark the
Scottish National Holocaust Memorial Event at Eastwood Park Theatre, Giffnock, at 7.00 pm on Monday
28 January.
The event is being hosted by East Renfrewshire Council and
the panel will be chaired by George Reid, former presiding officer of the Scottish Parliament. Panel
members are Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon MSP; Conservative leader Annabel Goldie MSP; Jim Murphy
MP, Minister for Europe; John Loughton, Scottish Youth Parliament chair and Dr Stephen Smith, Holocaust
Memorial Day Trust chair.
Questions will come from an invited audience
made up of senior school pupils and members of the community. East Renfrewshire has marked the Holocaust
with memorial events since 2001 and last hosted the national event in 2005.
