Waste and recycling

10-10 in East Ren

10:10 in East Ren

The 10:10 in East Ren campaign raises awareness that East Renfrewshire Council is going to change the way it collects your waste from October 2010.  In particular the campaign aims to make sure that residents are ready for this change in service and are encouraged to recycle as much as possible.

Recycling services

Recycling waste is the most common way for people to help stop waste from going to landfill.

East Renfrewshire Council operates several different facilities that allow you to recycle your waste, including a kerbside collection of paper, glass, food and drinks cans and plastics food and drinks containers.

Garden waste

Brown bins are emptied fortnightly on the same day as your grey bin is emptied.

This is a seasonal collection which operates from early March to late November.

Refuse collection

You can help us to reduce the amount of waste we collect and meet our tough landfill reduction targets.

Each property is supplied with one grey bin for waste. We no longer empty additional grey bins or waste that is left beside your bin.

Grey or tub bins are emptied weekly.

Street cleaning

Street-cleaning standards are set by the Environmental Protection Act 1990 (Code of Practice).

We try to maintain high standards of street cleanliness through our street-cleaning schedule and regular inspections.

Commercial waste

If you have commercial premises in East Renfrewshire, our Cleansing service can collect your trade waste.

We no longer offer a service to businesses who wish to dispose of waste in their own vehicles.
