Stop smoking

East Renfrewshire Smokefree Community Services

Stopping smoking you can do it - We can help

It's never too late to stop smoking even if you have smoked for a long time. Stopping smoking is one of the most important things you can do for your health and your wealth.

Stopping smoking can be a difficult thing to do but not impossible. One of the main reasons is because of your body's dependence on nicotine. Nicotine is a highly addictive drug contained within cigarettes/tobacco and it is for this reason it can be tough to give up.

How can I get help?

East Renfrewshire Smokefree Community Services can provide you with help and support to successfully stop smoking through a combination of group support and Nicotine Replacement Therapy or prescription medications (Champix® or Zyban®)*.

You are four times more likely to stop smoking and stay stopped if you attend a group and use a stop smoking product.

Groups are informal and friendly and run for seven consecutive weeks, lasting for one hour each week.

If you would like to attend one of the stop smoking support groups or require further information please contact the service.  Alternatively you can be referred by your own GP or Practice Nurse.

If you are unable to attend for group support alternatively you can go to your local pharmacy for help and support. Visit the Smokefree Pharmacy  Website
