Have your say on how to improve Cowan Park

View through the trees

Barrhead residents have been invited by the newly formed community group Friends of Cowan Park to come to the group's public meeting to be held at 10.30am this Saturday 21 January in Voluntary Action at 56 Kelburn Street (near Tesco).

The group is keen to hear the views and ideas of residents in order to plan how the park can be improved and what facilities could be introduced for young people.

Options currently under consideration include a skate-park and/or an assault course.

The Friends of Cowan Park's aim is to help with the management and improvement of Barrhead's main park. The group believes that Cowan Park has great potential, and would like to maximise this for the benefit of all local residents.

The group has already submitted a grant fund application for over £100,000 to the BIG Lottery. If successful, this will enable to group to create a contemplation garden surrounding the existing war memorial, and to develop an attractive and biodiverse wet-land drainage system with associated board-walks, making good use of the water-logged southern end of the park.
