Better Barrhead

You'll probably be aware that Barrhead is currently undergoing massive regeneration. Part of this is a makeover for some of the town's public spaces. If you have any thoughts on the questions below, maybe you should get involved with the Public Spaces Community Group.
How would you create a public space that is safe, pleasant and user friendly at all hours of the day?
Better Barrhead aim to reshape the Levern Walkway and Centenary Park that lie in the heart of the town.
What improvements would you like to see in Cross Arthurlie Street and Main Street?
Both Cross Arthurlie Street and Main Street are integral to the creation of a thriving, pleasant town centre. The team would like to work with traders and shoppers alike to make sure that any improvements to the streets represent the views of the community.
What should the new Main Street Civic Square be like?
To complement the improved park and shopping environment, a new civic square is proposed on the site of the existing Barrhead Sports Centre Car Park. The square will act as a focal point for all those using facilities like the Sports Centre, the Council Offices or the shops along Main Street.
Public Spaces Community Group
The Public Spaces Community Group has been formed to ensure that changes to the design of the area are informed by what the community wants and needs.
The first meeting of the Public Spaces Group was held on Tuesday 2nd October in the Voluntary Action offices on Kelburn Street. This meeting was used to introduce the public space projects to the community and to give everyone a chance to discuss their initial thoughts about the projects.
Since then the regeneration team have been busy working with the community, identifying more and more people who want to be involved in designing the future of Barrhead.
