Volunteering
The possibilities for volunteering are endless!
You could help out a charity, take part in conservation work, befriend an isolated person, or help others to learn something new.
And if you volunteer you're likely to:
- Meet new people
- Feel good
- Learn something new
- Do something you enjoy
- Make a valuable contribution to your community
- Improve your job prospects and employability
Below are just some examples of the way you can help out in the local area. You can find out more about volunteering in East Renfrewshire through your local Voluntary Action branch.
Special Constables
As a special constable, you'll work alongside regular officers and hold similar powers, a uniform and receive comprehensive training. Your responsibilities will include forging strong partnerships in the community, patrolling our streets, preventing crime and interacting with all kinds of people.
The job is diverse but demanding, so you could be doing anything from policing a football match to assisting at a road accident.
Most special constables at Strathclyde Police work at least four hours a week, which is arranged to suit their lifestyle.
Visit the Strathclyde Police recruitment pages where you’ll find more details and can download an application form. Alternatively call 01355 566352 or e-mail recruiting.police@strathclyde.pnn.police.uk
