Carers
Holding down a full-time job when you’re carer is near impossible, so it’s important that you make sure you’re getting all the financial help you need.
Check the Carers Scotland or Department of Work and Pensions sites for the lowdown on the type of financial assistance you can expect. This can include:
- Carer’s Allowance can benefit those who are caring for someone with a disability.
- Home responsibility protection, is for people who are unable to make contributions to their National Insurance because they are caring for someone.
- The Social fund can help pay for one-off expenses, including funeral, winter or cold weather expenses.
Both Job Centre Plus and Citizens Advice Bureau Scotland can advise you.
