Sports Centres

If you feel like getting fit but fancy something that doesn't depend on the weather, try your local sports centre. Barrhead, Eastwood Park and Neilson centres offer a varied selection of activities for all ages and abilities, including squash, tai chi, body pump and aqua aerobics.

You’ll find leaflets on exercise classes at your local library or sports centre.

Leisure Card

The Card lets you pick up discounts of up to 50% on certain activities in East Renfrewshire sports centres. It's available to everyone with an interest in sport, fitness, recreation and leisure. For more information or to apply for The Card ask at your local sports centre.

Gyms and Health Suites

Barrhead and Eastwood and Neilston centres all have well-equipped gyms and health suites. If you plan on using the facilities regularly you should sign up for Action Zone.

Action Zone is an inclusive package which charges a monthly fee by direct debit and allows unrestricted free access to all of East Renfrewshire Council's gyms, swimming pools, health suites and aerobics classes. This package also offers FREE gym inductions and programme reviews every two or three months with friendly, highly qualified gym instructors.

Sports Development

The Sports Development programme offers a wide range of sports to the local community, including swimming lessons, football development and coach education courses.

The programmes is for both adults and young people who want to develop their skills, interact with others and have fun in a safe environment.

Coach Education Courses

If you’re already handy with a racket or down with dribbling, Coach Education courses can train you to pass your expertise onto others.

Exercise Referral

If you'd like to be more active but don’t know where to begin then the Live Active Exercise Referral Scheme may be able to help.

East Renfrewshire Council work in partnership with Greater Glasgow Health Board to provide an exercise Referral Scheme for customers in the local area. Ask your GP if you fit the criteria.
