NHS Complaints

If you're not happy with the care you've received or about any aspect of NHS treatment, you have the right to make a complaint using the NHS complaints procedure. You will have your complaint investigated and be given a full and prompt reply.

It's recommended that before you go through the formal procedure, that you first talk to a member of staff involved in your care. This will hopefully resolve the isssue.

If it doesn't you can then make a complaint - either in person, by phone or in writing. Making a complaint may seem like a daunting process, so you may want to enlist some help.

Citizens Advice Bureau Scotland operate an Independent Advice and Support Service for NHS users. If you have a question you can call 0845 2311010 (low rate). You can also ask at your local CAB branch.
