Part-time and Evening Classes

Learning something new can be a way to gain new confidence, meet new people and help you get out of a rut. There's also the chance it'll improve your job prospects and maybe even boost your wage packet!

There's a range of part-time and evening classes going on across East Renfrewshire taking in subjects like languages, cookery, psychology, history, golf and yoga.

Most of these classes have been put together in conjunction with Glasgow University and Langside Colleges and run at various times in community halls, schools and libraries

There is a cost for these classes, but in many cases you'll be able to significantly cut the cost by applying for an Individual Learning Account (ILA).


Langside College

Langside College offer by far the largest selection of courses in the local area. They include:

  • Conversational Spanish, Italian and French
  • Psychology
  • Yoga
  • Scottish, Italian and Indian cookery.
  • Golf
  • Dressmaking and other crafts

You can pick up a brochure in your local library or download one from the Langside College website. Just follow the link, select 'Course directory' and then 'Evening & Lifestyle' in the subject area.


University of Glasgow

University of Glasgow DACE (Department of Adult Continuing Education) provides University education to the community at large.

The programme is taught by Glasgow University's own academic staff and other qualified persons from outside the University. Teaching services are provided in as wide a range of subjects. Courses run in different venues through out East Renfrewshire.

Concession fees or fee waivers may be available depending on your personal circumstances and choice of course. Many courses also qualify for Individual Learning Accounts (ILAs).
