Information for Carers

2 older ladies

Carers are people who look after family, friends or neighbours because they are sick, have a disability or are older and infirm.

Being a carer is tough. You want to make sure you’re providing the best possible care, but you also have to fit your own life and needs around the person you’re caring for. In this section you'll find links to people and organisations who can support you in your caring.

  • East Renfrewshire Council provides support for carers. Find more information on the services offered, visit their website's Care and Carers.

NHS24 gives an overview of some of the assistance you may be able to receive. You are entitled to a Carers Assessment , which is undertaken by social services to determine what help you need. This can include:

  • Home Helps
  • Home Care
  • Meals on wheels
  • Respite Care
  • Equipment
