Planning and Development

The five sections of our Planning and Development service are as follows:

Development Planning prepares statutory development plans, including the local plan and the structure plan. We promote outdoor access and the conservation of the built and natural environment, and we carry out a wide range of information activities.

Development Management deals with planning applications to ensure that development proposals meet the policies of the local plan.

Economic Development gives advice and financial support to local businesses and provides vocational training and employment initiatives.

Regeneration is responsible for facilitating the physical and economic regeneration of town centres, business locations and other deprived areas.

Building Standards protects the public with general building works and from dangerous building structures. A summary of our services includes:

  • processing building warrant applications

  • inspecting construction work relating to building warrants

  • carrying out enforcement of building standards

  • inspecting and assessing dangerous buildings

  • providing licensing consultations

  • assessing and inspecting regulated stands, staging and temporary venues

  • providing guidance on disablement issues

  • issuing building standards property enquiry information

  • providing liaison between the East Renfrewshire access panel and East Renfrewshire Council
