Public and community transport
East Renfrewshire Council is the local roads authority. It is also a member of the Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT). SPT is responsible for co-ordinating public transport services and infrastructure.
We work with SPT to increase the availability and accessibility of public transport services, and to make them more affordable.
East Renfrewshire Council wishes to promote travel by public transport as a relatively affordable, convenient, reliable, accessible and safe means of getting around, both locally and further afield. However, a constant problem for travellers considering using the train or bus is the difficulty in obtaining timetable and route/stop information. In order to overcome this obstacle the government has established a service named Traveline - it can provide a wealth of information, via the telephone or the internet, upon most forms of public transport Britain-wide and it may be accessed by ringing 0870 608 2 608 OR by visiting Traveline website.
