Housing

Housing

Last updated: 23/04/2020

We've reviewed the level of housing services that can be guaranteed. This is necessary to ensure personal contact is minimised to reduce the risk of infection.

Whilst the current restrictions are in place, the following services will continue:

Repairs

To minimise contact between individuals, only emergency repairs in tenants' homes will be carried out for the foreseeable future.

Non-emergency repairs will be recorded and carried out as and when the situation improves.

Homelessness

During this critical period, we'll maintain a service for those who are homeless or threatened with homelessness, and provide information, advice and assistance to anyone who finds themselves in this situation.

For more information, call 0141 577 3719/3671 during office hours, or 0800 052 0180 out of hours.

Sheltered housing

To reflect the particular vulnerability of our sheltered housing tenants, we've changed our service days to Monday to Friday to ensure we can deliver consistent support to residents cross all 8 complexes.

Individual advice is being issued to each complex on a regular basis to reassure residents at this worrying time.

Rent

Should you be experiencing difficulties in paying your rent please email rents@eastrenfrewshire.gov.uk with your name, full address and your enquiry. You can also contact us on 07979 751178.

Please be advised this is a very challenging time and we will do our best to answer your query as soon as possible.

You can also seek advice and support from our Money Advice and Rights Team. Just call the team on 0141 577 8420 for more information, advice and support.

Private landlords and tenants

The Coronavirus (Scotland) Act 2020 is now in force and gives additional protection to tenants from eviction during the outbreak by increasing the notice period a landlord must give a tenant.

The Scottish Government has updated their guidance to include information on these changes as well as when to do safety checks, and the approach to gas certificates. Read the updated guidance.

All other services are suspended and will be reviewed in line with changes to the current government restrictions.

Please note, the Scottish Association of Landlords, Homes for Good and the Chartered Institute of Housing have produced joint guidance for landlords and letting agents to help in these difficult times. View this guidance.
