New applications

Regretfully, we're not taking any new applications for licensing until further notice. Emergency or very urgent new applications will be considered on a case by case basis. Please email: with an explanation and we'll reply to you within a few days.

Licence extensions

The Scottish Government has passed the Coronavirus (Sc) Bill extending many deadlines and introducing emergency measures. For example, all Civic Government (Sc) Act 1982 licence renewals from the following list will have a period of 3 months from the date of expiry to be lodged with us if you quote the coronavirus outbreak as the reason for the delay.

Licence renewals

  • Taxi
  • Private hire
  • Window cleaner
  • Second hand dealer
  • Public entertainment (including tattoo and skin piercing)

In these circumstances your licence will continue in force until the renewal application is decided. Please don't continue to work if you're not renewing your licence as the licence will expire on the expiry date in that case.

Alcohol licences

Licences related to the sale of alcohol under the Licensing (Sc) Act 2005 are also altered by the Bill.If you have wish to make an application regarding a Premises or Personal licence for the sale of alcohol then please email the Licensing Board for further advice and assistance:
