Community Councils

This page provides information on community councils in East Renfrewshire

Community council elections speech bubble

Community Councils are a special type of community group that has a legal right to be consulted on important local issues, such as planning and licensing. They are also a way for local people to get things done in their area and make sure that the voices of local people are heard. They are a direct link between local people and the Council, NHS, police, fire and other public bodies. They meet to discuss matters of interest to their particular local area, with a remit to make known the views of local people on matters affecting them. They also provide an opportunity to campaign on specific issues, run local events and support good causes.
