Citizen of the Year 2017

Nominate a local volunteer who deserves recognition for their commitment to their local community.

Provost Award 2017

The search is on for East Renfrewshire's Citizen of the Year 2017.

The Provost Award honours volunteers who have made a noteworthy contribution or have given an outstanding service in the previous year or over a number of years to their local community.

It's a chance to say thank you to the army of unsung heroes who are amongst us, like 2016 winner Lorna Preece.

Lorna was awarded for her dedication to helping older people - particularly rehab and cardiac arrest patients - for 10 years and made it part of her every day routine. She also kindly invited two older gentlemen to spend Christmas with her family as they were going to be spending the day alone.

We know there are many individuals like Lorna who are volunteering tirelessly in our communities day in, day out and making a huge difference to many people's lives. This award is an opportunity to pay tribute to these selfless individuals and we want you to nominate someone who you believe deserves the recognition of being the 2017 citizen of the year.
- Provost Jim Fletcher
