Petrol licence

Apply and pay for a petrol licence.

To run a business where petrol is stored to fuel vehicles, you need a petrol licence from the local authority.

Fee

When applying for a petrol licence the fee is based according to the quantity of petrol stored:

  • £44 for less than 2,500 litres
  • £60 for between 2,500 and 50,000 litres
  • £125 for over 50,000 litres

When applying to change or renew a petrol licence the storage fees are set annually by the Health and Safety Executive and are based on the amount stored.
