East Renfrewshire Council acknowledges the benefits of sharing information to improve efficiency, service and transparency - provided that the necessary safeguards are in place.

The Council has data sharing agreements with a variety of 3rd parties e.g. NHS and Police in respect of the Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) practice and the collective approach to anti-social behaviour respectively.

Council guidance on information sharing and draft Data Processing Agreements are available to staff via the Intranet.  Codes of practice and guidance have been produced for the sharing of information as part of any purchasing or tender agreement, including a "special conditions" contract clause specifying the obligations of third parties in relation to records management..

Information on how personal information may be shared by the Council and the rights of a data subject are available to the public on the Data Protection section of the Council website.
