Opening times

Greenhags is open 7 days a week, all year round, except Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

Summer1 April - 30 September8am - 7.30pm
Winter1 October - 31 March8am - 5.30pm

Work to improve the access road at Greenhags Household Waste and Recycling Centre will start on Monday (13 August) and last for 12 weeks. The recycling centre will remain open as normal and any disruption to residents using the facility will be kept to a minimum throughout.

What can I recycle at Greenhags?

You can recycle:

  • waste electrical and electronic  equipment (anything with a plug or battery)
  • fluorescent tube and low energy bulbs
  • MDF, chipboard and laminates
  • scrap metal
  • soil and rubble
  • wood
  • car batteries
  • household batteries
  • engine oil
  • garden waste
  • gas bottles/canisters
  • cardboard

You can also recycle everyday items such as paper, glass, cans, plastics food and drinks containers and juice cartons.

You can't recycle food waste at Greenhags.

Proof of residency

Greenhags is for East Renfrewshire residents only. When you visit the site, you must bring proof of where you live. For example, driving license, council tax or utility bill.

Business waste

You must have a permit to bring business waste to Greenhags.
