Business Improvement Districts

Find out about our Business Improvement Districts.

The Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) exist to work on behalf and for the success of the wider business community, based on the principle that we can achieve much more through working together to increase customers, stimulate investment and enhance the reputation of our area.

The Giffnock Village BID area is focused on the core of the Giffnock area. This currently equates to circa 70 properties

The Giffnock BID area starts at the Stratstone Mercedes Benz dealership on Fenwick Road and extends south to Pane e Vino on Fenwick Road where it will finish. It'll take in all businesses on either side of this road between these 2 points.

Aims

The aims of the Giffnock BID are:

  • To improve the economic opportunities for the businesses in Giffnock
  • To bring customers to Giffnock and improve repeat spend in the area
  • To improve the physical look and feel of the area
  • To market Giffnock to local, regional and national audience
  • To create a sense of community by improving businesses and local relationships
  • To make the BID 'cost neutral' for each business
  • To address issues of for all businesses - not just particular sectors
  • To give businesses a strong, unified voice
  • To support local community groups whose aims align with the BID

All About Barrhead began in September 2016 and comprises almost 150 local businesses. The area of the BID begins at Tesco on Kelburn Street and encompasses all the business along the Main Street as well as all those businesses along Cross Arthurlie Street until it meets Carlibar Road as well as the businesses on Cochran Street.

Aims

The aims of the Barrhead BID are to:

  • showcase Barrhead as a positive place to live, work, shop and visit. It achieves these goals through various community events which have become a staple of the local calendar such as the Barrhead Rainbow Run and the Big Barrhead Hallowe'en Parade, to name just two.
  • give support to businesses in various ways. Barrhead's first term will end in 2021, at which point it will look to achieve a second term through a renewal ballot.

Aims

The aims of the Clarkston BID are to:
