Report a fraud
If you suspect that a council employee is committing fraud or is accepting bribes, you should report this to Internal Audit.
Some examples of fraud include:
- ordering/taking items for personal use (stationery/ printing items)
- misuse of assets - e.g. printing of holiday photos on council printer, personal telephone calls
- conflict of interest- Employee purchases goods where the supplier is owned by relative or friend of employee
- inflated expenses- fictitious, double claimed or inflated amounts for expenses
- provision of council service to a friend or relative and no request to pay for service e.g use of facility/ service
- having second job whilst on sick leave at council
