Local Care Homes Well Supported Thanks to HSCP Teamwork

New report highlights the vital behind-the-scenes support East Renfrewshire HSCP provides to help local care homes deliver high-quality, confident care.

Nurse for report

East Renfrewshire Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) has shared a new report that shows just how much work goes on behind the scenes to support care homes across the area — helping residents and families feel confident that loved ones are in safe hands.

The report, presented to the Integration Joint Board this week, highlights the strong relationships between the HSCP and local care homes, and the wide range of support available to help them deliver high-quality care.

Using a structured assurance tool, the HSCP looked at three key areas:

  • Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) - making sure care homes are safe and hygienic
  • Resident Health and Care Needs - ensuring people get the right care at the right time
  • Workforce, Leadership and Culture - supporting staff and promoting positive working environments

This work is part of a whole-system approach to care home support, with many different HSCP teams working together to provide expert advice, clinical input and practical help. These include:

  • Care Home Liaison Nursing Service (CHLN)
  • Vaccination Team
  • Older People's Community Mental Health - Care Home Liaison Service (OPCMHT)
  • Adult Support and Protection Team (ASPT)
  • Advanced Nurse Practitioners
  • Community Rehab / Allied Health Professionals (AHP)
  • Commissioning Team

Together, these teams help care homes respond to challenges, improve services and keep residents safe and well.

Julie Tomlinson, Chief Nurse at East Renfrewshire HSCP, said:

"We know how important it is for families to feel reassured about the care their loved ones receive. This report shows the level of care, collaboration and commitment that goes into supporting our care homes every day.

"I would like to thank all of our staff who support care homes, and the care home teams themselves for their continued cooperation and dedication"
