Our Customer Service opening hours are 8.45am - 4.45pm, Monday to Friday. The Payment Centre hours are 9am - 4.15pm, with only credit/debit card payments (not cash) between 1pm and 2pm.

Large item collection (Bulky Uplift)

Arrange and pay for bulky or excess household waste to be uplifted. Fridges, freezers, mattresses, suites.

Bulky household items, such as mattresses, suites, beds, washing machines or anything that cannot fit into your wheeled bin can be uplifted on request.

This service is for household waste only. Different charges apply to business premises: Business waste.

How much does it cost?

From 1 April 2017, we charge £29.75 for a standard request, based on two operatives uplifting as many items as practical within 15 minutes. No concessions available.

When will my waste items be uplifted?

When bookings for an uplift are received by 2pm on a Tuesday, the uplift will take place on the Wednesday or Thursday of that week. During busy periods this will also include Friday and on exception, may extend to Wednesday and Thursday of the following week.

White goods

White goods are uplifted separately in a different van. Please note this might be at a different time and day to general household waste.


Due to insurance requirements, you cannot assist with the uplift.

A bulky uplift will take two employees no longer than 15 minutes to complete. You will provide us with an Itemised list of household waste to be uplifted and leave the items in the most accessible place. For insurance reasons we will only uplift items stated in this section and once request has been submitted no additional items can be added. We are not insured to collect items from inside properties, therefore, if you are unable to leave items outside for collection, please contact our customer services department on 0141 577 3001 for advice. We do not dismantle items - we only uplift. We are unable to dispose of gas cylinders through this service. These can be taken to either of our Household Waste Recycling Centres at Barrhead or Greenhags.

If the uplift is expected to take more than 15 minutes, a 'ground clearance' can be requested and you will receive a no obligation quotation to have the waste items removed. Ground clearance quotations are provided when we have the capacity to do so and will be done at the earliest opportunity but unfortunately we cannot provide a timescale. Can I dispose of the items myself?

Yes, simply take your items along to your nearest recycling centre.
